39th ANZTLA 2025 Conference
Echoes of the past ... creating stories for the future
This theme evolved from a conversation about connections librarians find in their library roles; they assist patrons to locate and work with the physical and online resources available in their collections, thereby enabling their patrons’ creation of the stories/essays/theses/sermons which contribute to their future and that of those around them. In this conversation, the sense of being irreplaceable also came through. Although libraries and librarians have many tech and online advances including AI to assist, the role of library staff remains irreplaceable for the experience and advice librarians offer, and for picking up the nuances found in patron conversations that lead to finding that invaluable resource (echoes of the past) that assists in completion of the task (creating stories for the future).
